Definition

In 2015, the United Nations set the course for the transformation of the world toward global sustainability with its Agenda 2030. With the help of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a framework and a total of 169 subgoals, states, institutions, companies, and civil society should be encouraged to work together for our future. The sustainability goals are intended to solve ecological, social, and economic topics. Nowadays the SDGs are increasingly finding their way into our everyday lives.

Introduction

On September 25, 2015, 193 member states of the United Nations adopted the so-called “Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development” at the world summit at the United Nations headquarters in New York (UN, 2015). The Agenda 2030 today is the global framework for politics and is intended to perpetuate the tried and tested in terms of sustainability and at the same time initiate changes for a better future.
